Africa Mix
is a weekly program of music from Africa and the African
diaspora on KALW 91.7 FM.San Francisco. Emmanuel Nado and Edwin Okongo
alternate each week to offer listeners something different in the way of
international music, cultural information, and musicians interviews. Nado and
Okongo offer two complementary perspectives to listeners. “We play what
we believe our listeners will enjoy." Weeks after weeks Africamix gets calls from listeners who stumbled across the
show to say how the music has enhanced their night. Some say they dance around their kitchens, or that
it makes their studying more interesting. Africamix also has a solid following
from the city’s multicultural communities, many of whom say the music reminds
them of home. We present Africa Mix for the pure joy and cool meditation of it
all, to invite listeners to open their ears to different kind of rhythms.
